Design Process

Even seemingly simple projects can be quite involving. This applies even more to web development. If one try's to tackle every issue at once it's hard to manage and less cost effective. A clear process that breaks the project into concrete steps helps everyone stay on track. On this page we've outlined our simple process for managing web projects.

As much as is applicable we also use this process for print and identity projects.

Discover

We explore the company, the brand, the target audience and the competition.

Brainstorm
Meet with client to determine project scope.

Research
Look at competitors and/or other websites to evaluate which features should be considered or avoided.

Brand Attributes
Words that define the brand and
theme such as ”Craftsmanship,
Comfort, Trusted.”

Target Users
We create user personas, profiles
and paths to clearly establish the user goals.

Develop

After gathering all the information we prepare storyboards and page specs; a complete blueprint of the site.

Storyboard
Info from brainstorming is organized into sensible units.

Create page specifications
Black and white diagrams of all pages, the blueprint of the site. Development is more efficient when primary functionality is approved at this stage.

Design

The blueprint forms the basis for a unique, expressive, interactive site.

Comps of look and feel
Non-interactive art work of how site will look.

Finalize look and feel
Integrate client feedback into a complete, creative expression.

Deliver

We create a site that works; cross-platform, on budget, on schedule.

Assemble assets
Content, photographs and/or art work.

Program
Using HTML and CSS

Post test site for review
Proof site for accuracy, spelling,
links, etc

Launch
Post site to client ISP.
